Cooperating with the client

The first, preliminary telephone conversation is typically free of charge. Basically, cooperation with a client begins with an initial, informal meeting where we get acquainted and lay down the terms for our future cooperation.

At SelskabsAdvokaterne we understand that it is important to the client to settle the matter without undue delay, and our priority is to do our job as efficiently as possible - without compromising on the quality of our work.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality and trust are prerequisites for our client relationships. All information received from or about our clients is treated confidentially, and all our employees are under a duty of silence, in accordance with the Danish Administration of Justice Act and legal ethical rules.

Fees and rates

Client satisfaction requires full disclosure of rates before starting a case.

In cases where the amount of work involved can be fairly accurately determined, we are pleased to quote a firm offer.

In other cases we are pleased to make an estimate of our fee. In ongoing cases we keep our clients informed about the size of our fee at all times.

Fees are calculated on the basis of the amount of time spent on handling the case, subject to the type of case, the financial assets and interests involved, and the result obtained on the client's behalf.

The hourly rate typically lies in the area of DKK 1,500 - 1,900 excluding VAT.

For some types of case we will ask for a deposit on account. It will always be a matter of assessment in each individual case which solution is most appropriate.

Invoicing

Invoices are usually issued monthly in arrears. In less complicated cases the invoice may be issued when the case is closed.

Terms of payment

Our terms of payment are net 10 days after date of invoice. In the event of default, interest for late payment is added in accordance with regulations. VAT is added to all fees in accordance with the rules in force from time to time.

Liability

SelskabsAdvokaterne is liable to the client in accordance with Danish law, the Danish Administration of Justice Act and the rules on best practice laid down by the General Council of the Danish Bar and Law Society.

We are, however, not liable for loss or consequential damages, including loss of data, loss of earnings or profit, operating loss etc. In all events, our liability for damages is limited to an amount corresponding to the insurance amount stipulated by the General Council of the Danish Bar and Law Society.

Insurance

SelskabsAdvokaterne holds professional indemnity insurance with Codan.

Governing law and legal venue

All our services are governed by Danish law in all respects, and any disputes can only be brought before a Danish court.
